Pecel Lele (Indonesia)

Pecel lele is a Javanese dish consisting of deep-fried catfish with sambal paste and vegetables such as cucumber, string beans, lettuce and cabbage. Depending on regional preferences, tofu, tempeh, and steamed rice are often seen on the side.

It is recommended to pair the meal with a glass of fresh orange juice or tea. Tasty, inexpensive and nutritious, it is a favorite dish of many people who buy it from street stalls called warung tenda, which is usually open late in the afternoon until midnight.

Since Pecel lele is affordable and uses only the freshest ingredients, the dish has also spread to neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Singapore.
