SAMBALI DESSERT (TURKEY)

  • 1,1 lbs of semolina
  • 1 cup of yogurt
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 0.5 cups of flour
  • 1 packet of vanilla
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 4 glasses of water
  • 10 drops of lemon

First of all, we take 4 cups of granulated sugar and 3.5 cups of water in a pot and make the syrup. When the syrup starts to boil, we squeeze 5-6 drops of lemon juice into it, boil it for 5 minutes and turn off the heat.

Take the semolina, granulated sugar, vanilla and flour in a mixing bowl and mix. We make a hole in the middle and put the baking soda and squeeze 5-6 drops of lemon on it.

Add yogurt and 1/2 cup of water on it and mix until it becomes a homogeneous mixture.

With the help of a brush on the bottom of a baking tray, first apply butter and then molasses and sprinkle semolina on it. We pour the mixture and spread it so that all parts are of equal thickness.

Spread molasses on the dough mixture and sprinkle semolina. We make slice lines with a knife and decorate it with peanuts or almonds.

We bake for 1 hour in the oven at 392 degrees.

After it comes out of the oven, we let it rest for 5 minutes and pass over the lines we drew to slice it with a knife and pour the syrup.

You can decorate your dessert with pistachios or coconut, powdered pistachios.
