Temarizushi (Japan)
Temarizushi or temari sushi is a variation of nigirizushi that is rolled into a ball. Cooked rice is mixed with rice vinegar, sugar, and salt to prepare it, then topped with the toppings of your choice before the combination is rolled into a ball.
Some of the more popular topping options include avocado slices, cucumber, salmon, tuna, shrimp, lotus root slices, and octopus slices. After Temarizushi is prepared, it is typically served with soy sauce for dipping on the side. This type of sushi is usually prepared on March 3, also known as Hinamatsuri or Girl's Day.
