Sinigang Na Isda (Philippines)

  • 1 white-fleshed fish (lagos, trout, etc.)
  • 1.5 cups of water
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 1 head of onion
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 0,66 lbs green beans
  • 0,66 lbs spinach
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Slice the fish first, then cut each slice into 5-6 pieces. Sprinkle salt and pepper on them. Clean the green beans and cut them in half lengthwise. If the beans are too long, you can cut them in half.

Bring the water to a boil and add the tomatoes, green beans and onions. Simmer for 15 minutes, until the vegetables are cooked. Add the fish and fish sauce over the vegetables. When it starts to boil, reduce the heat, when it boils for 1-2 more minutes, add the spinach and lemon juice and let it boil for 5 more minutes. Then remove the onions and tomatoes from the fish and serve with spinach and green beans.
