Angels on Horseback (England)

This classic British Victorian dish is typically consumed as an after-dinner snack or starter. It usually consists of grilled (and sometimes skewered), bacon-wrapped oysters drizzled with fresh lemon juice for extra flavor.

The dish derives its poetic name from the visual appearance of curled bacon that resembles angel wings. Angels on horseback are best served with toast and paired with hollandaise sauce.
