Folar de Valpaços Bread (Portugal)

This traditional Portuguese Easter bread consists of flour, eggs and local Trás-os-Montes olive oil. It is traditionally stuffed with a variety of pork products such as pork, bacon, sausage, ham or minced pork arm. Folar was first mentioned in writing in 1959 and was awarded Protected Geographical Indication status by the European Commission in 2016.

Although traditionally associated with Easter, it is also widely consumed on various special occasions.
