ZALLETTI (ITALY)

These rustic cornmeal cookies get their name from the Venetian word zálo, meaning "yellow." They are usually flavored with lemon zest, garnished with rum-soaked raisins, and while traditionally made unsweetened, some grappa is often added to the dough.

Zaletti are perfect for dipping into milk, tea or coffee, making them a popular breakfast choice in Venice, but they're also often enjoyed as an after-dinner snack paired with a glass of sweet wine like Vin Santo.

ENJOY YOUR MEAL
