What is Ganache? (France)
The world-famous ganache (ginache or ganache) in its simplest form is made by mixing finely chopped chocolate and hot cream. This smooth and velvety chocolate mix can be optionally combined with melted butter for a silkier texture and enriched with the addition of a wide variety of extracts, oils, liqueurs, herbs, spices, and even salt. Traditional ganache requires the use of high-quality semisweet or bittersweet chocolate and heavy cream, although milk and white chocolate are also often used, while whipped cream or double cream can be used instead of heavy cream. Apart from the materials used for its preparation, the consistency of the ganache can also vary. The consistency largely depends on the proportions of chocolate and cream used in it.
