Szałot (Poland)

Szaot is a traditional Silesian salad made with chopped boiled potatoes, carrots, pickled cucumbers, peas, boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, or pickled herring. It is covered with mayonnaise, flavored with salt and pepper. Mustard is added as a flavor enhancer. Szaot is very popular in Poland, especially in Silesia, the historical region of its origin. It is usually served cold or at room temperature, with a few slices of bread on the side.
