Pão de Deus (Portugal)

Translated as God's bread, this traditional Portuguese dessert is a combination of a soft bun and a topping with dried coconut and eggs. The dough is usually flavored with lemon zest, rum, or vanilla, and the scones are baked until the topping is golden and crunchy.

These sweet rolls are eaten year-round and are often served for breakfast, but are also associated with the old Portuguese tradition known as All Saints Day and pão-por-deus.
