Casamiento (El Salvador)
Casamiento is a traditional dish
from El Salvador. It is usually made from a mixture of leftover beans and rice.
The dish can be enriched by adding sautéed green peppers, onions and tomatoes.
When paired with scrambled eggs,
casamiento makes a great breakfast. It is usually served with fried plantains,
fresh tortilla, cheese or cream. The name of the dish means wedding, which
refers to the marriage of rice and beans.
