Casamiento (El Salvador)


Casamiento is a traditional dish from El Salvador. It is usually made from a mixture of leftover beans and rice. The dish can be enriched by adding sautéed green peppers, onions and tomatoes.

When paired with scrambled eggs, casamiento makes a great breakfast. It is usually served with fried plantains, fresh tortilla, cheese or cream. The name of the dish means wedding, which refers to the marriage of rice and beans.
